Here Fishie Fishie

I took this image awhile ago when it was warmer outside! This is My dad catching his first fish at his new lake house :) he says and I quote "Let me hold it closer to the camera, It'll look bigger!" hehe He's right, just another example of Depth of Field!

Lefarge Rock Quarry

This 'run off slab' has been accruing cement and such for over 25 years. For my next shots I want to go down inside and take pictures!! I am going to see who I need to talk to and make it happen.

Some where in between

During the rain I was out photographing and came across this cemetery it was very peaceful and I wanted to capture the feeling...

Working hard, or hardly working?

Today Allyson Stephens, Ze Moua and Chelsea Smith finished laying the hardwood flooring in our holiday portrait studio! They did a great job, and I photographed them! :)

A fun Day in the studio

Today I had one of my dear friends put a little makeup on me and take my portrait! I think she did a great job! especially considering that I am NOT 'photogenic', hence one of the many reasons I am a photographer...

Photo Chick on You Tube

I just finished watching this video about how to light a room with flash, which was very interesting, and then Finch proceeds to lecture on how to use your flash to the best of your advantage! interesting...

On my drive to school...

This morning on the drive to school I couldn't help but stop and photograph the morning light... it was beautiful.

EVERYONE needs to attend Imaging USA

Check out the Speaker List for 2010 PPA Convention in January!!! it is going to be AMAZING!

In need of a little help...

Ok GTC friends, I need a few volunteers! I need to put a small album together of some wedding portraits, and Amanda had the brilliant idea to stage a wedding shoot! I have the dress, we can clip it in the back so it will fit every size, (or if someone has their own and would like to use it that would be awesome!) I need a Gal and a Lad! Anyone who helps me out I will bake for them a delicious cookie! Let me know guys it'll be OH SO fun!

Holiday Fun

Today in class we worked on out set for Holiday Portraits that are coming up in about 2 weeks! We still have so much to do, but we got a good start! Here are some images i took today during all the fun! :)

Old Things

I was out driving around yesterday when the weather was beautiful and I came across an old abandoned store. Everything was removed from the building except this old gas pump. I really enjoy finding artifacts of days long gone. I think I will start a series...

Candid shot

I love this image! Candid photos are my favorite images to take because they capture emotion and pieces of peoples lives. I can look at this picture and know what he is thinking... can you?

Photo inquiry

The day was beautiful, the sun was shining and the grass was oh so green... I took this image from this low angle because I wanted the viewer to feel like they were right there in the grass with them. Did I succeed? Opinions desired! How could I have made this photograph better?

The Twelve Elements of a Merit Image:
#1 Impact, Seeing an image for the first time and evoking some sort of emotion
#2 Creativity, speaks for itself
#3 Technical Excellence, print quality, presentation, sharpness color correctness
#4 Composition, the design of the image itself
#5 Lighting, use and control
#6 Style, a definite characteristic
#7 Print Presentation, should enhance and support the image, NOT distract
#8 Center of Interest, what the maker wants the viewer to focus on as their subject
#9 Subject Matter, should always be appropriate to the story being told in the image
#10Color Balance, supplies harmony to an image
#11 Technique, the approach used to create the image,
#12 Story Telling, is the image's ability to evoke imagination

I think I should read and re-read this every time I even think about picking up my camera. I can NOT WAIT until January for the Imaging USA conference!! So many brilliant photographers under one roof, it's going to be A-mazing!

A Slice of Heaven...

Tonight I went to my mom's to have dinner with my family, and I swear she is trying to make me larger! :) Look at this beautifulness that she made! It tasted even better than it looks!

Ultimate FAIL!

I was driving to work the other day and had to laugh when I saw these two places directly beside one another! How could anyone resist the temptation?

Photographers on Facebook...

Facebook got in a lot of trouble recently for allowing images to be used and basically stolen. This could be a serious issue for photographers... check out this article on PPA!

I created this image for an assignment in my photoshop class! It was slightly challenging, but tons of fun coming up with an idea of what to shoot! Check it out:

Studio Time

Side Project

I have been working on a special for one of my friends who recently had a baby, I made her a music video with my skills from multi-media, NOW I just need to figure out how to post the video and get it to play correctly!

In The Studio...

Today in the studio I had one of my dear old friends come in and model for me! I baked cupcakes (which everyone later enjoyed!) I had a lot of fun, as I always do when I am shooting in the studio with friends. Here is a taste...

Working on my blog...

I think it's fair to say that I have no idea how to be a blogger... I need support fellow photographers!! Any advice or recommendations for how I can make this space more exciting PLEASE let me know! Thank you in advance!

Zoey Dechanel beautifulness

A perfect song for this rainy un-photogenic day...

10/13/09

I have some really awesome people at my school! They make me laugh till I cry, say really stupid things that make me feel less of an airhead and they stay late to help me work through some HTML junk, that just makes my head spin! Thank you everyone (you know who you are) and Thank YOU Mr. Brett! You my friend are amazing!!! :)

My First "music video"

No better way to spend a day with my favorite boy, than running errands and rewarding ourselves for not spending all our money at the best hamburger spot known to man... FUDRUCKERS!!

So, sports photography I learned is not really my cup of tea. I could be jumping the gun on this one. Perhaps just because my first experience was not really the greatest! It was at night, so I didn't have the light I needed, I don't have the glass I need to shoot football, and It was a million degrees outside and I was dressed for a hockey game!!! So... maybe it's worth exploring ONE more time, and possibly renting another lens from PPR. This is the best I was able to get, hope my photojournalism teacher doesn't chew my face off.

Pet Photography

I used my Nanni's Amstaf because I knew she could handle being around lots of people and she would be easy to work with (other than her 89lb structure) My husband brought her into the studio for me once the set was put together, and helped get her into the wash tub. She didn't enjoy this part of the shoot much, but she allowed me to get the few cute shots that I needed! She looks like a scary dog, but she is a huge sweet baby who if given the chance would lick you to death! I had a ton of fun doing this project!! :) I could see pet photography in my future!

Days like today...

I am SO glad that I am not made of sugar! We had the children's shoot at school today and my theme was "safari" and I had to carry really awkward fake plants into the studio in a torrential down pour! The hard 'wet' work paid off though because I got some really great shots of Mr. Valin. Jeremy so wonderfully let me barrow his son for this project and we had a lot of fun! this photo shoot gave me lots of ideas for the future!

a beautiful afternoon...

I am sitting outside watching puffy clouds go by and wondering if I take pictures of them could I change them and do crazy things in photoshop to make them into crazy animals. Oh the crazy ideas I come up with!!

10/4/09

So, I officially have a blog! wow, I really don't know where I should begin... I have my reservations because I DO NOT want this to be another myspace/facebook journal entry place... "Jimmy is gearing up for the weekend!!" Who really cares.
I would ideally like this 'blog spot' to be about my journey into photography, and all the happenings there in.
With that said... WELCOME to my blog!
My name is Jennifer Green, I like to be called Jenni, but I will answer to anything equal. I have always enjoyed capturing images of my life and the lives of those around me. After many horrid and UN-ethical, demanding jobs I decided that I wanted to do something with my life that I could be proud of and that I would actually be passionate about. I am learning that life is way too short to be spent doing things that are not going to make life worth living!
I enrolled in the commercial photography program at GTC after hearing amazing things from lots of people about the program director Kim Harkins. I am currently half way through the two year program, and it is getting increasingly more difficult, but the instructors are helpful and when it's frustrating, my passion for what I am learning pushes me on towards my goal of one day becoming a professional independent photographer!
I look forward to all the great things to come...
